Province of Latina

The Province of Latina extends across 2,251 square kilometers, featuring the Aurunci, Lepini, and Ausoni mountain ranges alongside the Tyrrhenian Sea coastline.

Founded in 1934, the province emerged from the extensive land reclamation project of the Pontine Marshes, transforming uninhabitable wetlands into agricultural territories.

The territory contains numerous medieval settlements called borghi, where traditional agricultural practices and cattle farming shaped local communities for generations.

The provincial capital, Latina, serves as an administrative center, connecting 33 municipalities through a network of roads and public transportation systems.

The province includes the Pontine Islands archipelago, where Ponza and Ventotene islands offer Mediterranean landscapes and ancient Roman port structures.
