South Chungcheong, Province in west-central South Korea
The region spreads across 8,226 square kilometers of diverse terrain, from mountainous areas to flat agricultural lands bordering the Yellow Sea.
The province emerged in 1896 when the former Chungcheong region divided into North and South sections during the late Joseon Dynasty period.
The Hansan area maintains a centuries-old tradition of producing ramie cloth, a distinctive textile made from natural plant fibers.
South Chungcheong contains multiple transportation hubs, with Seoul Subway Line 1 connecting through Cheonan and Asan to the capital region.
The province generates substantial marine resources from its 3,200-kilometer coastline, which includes 250 islands and extensive salt production facilities.
