Faras

Faras is an archaeological site in Sudan that preserves the remains of an ancient settlement spanning multiple historical periods. The site contains traces of various structures, including religious buildings and residential areas that reveal its former importance.

The settlement emerged in ancient times and was inhabited and ruled by Egyptians, Kushites, and later Nubian kingdoms. It developed into a significant center before eventually being abandoned and submerged beneath water.
