Bilecik Province

Bilecik Province is an administrative division in northwestern Turkey that covers hilly terrain, deep valleys, and sections of the Anatolian Plateau. The territory borders several neighboring regions and includes landscapes with different elevations and vegetation zones.

The area has been settled since at least 3000 BC and passed through the rule of Hittites, Phrygians, Lydians, Persians, Romans, and Byzantines. The town of Söğüt within the territory became the founding site of the Ottoman Empire in the late 13th century under Osman Gazi.

Each district within the province maintains traditional festivals celebrating local dairy products, particularly the regional varieties of cheese produced in mountain pastures.

The eight districts across the territory are connected by regular bus services and a network of roads and rail lines. The transport routes also link to larger cities in neighboring regions.

Several mountain pastures across the territory produce regional cheese varieties using traditional methods that are showcased at local festivals. Visitors can sample different cheese variations in some districts during festival days.
