Venezuelan Coastal Range

The Venezuelan Coastal Range extends 1,200 kilometers along the Caribbean Sea, consisting of two parallel ranges with elevations reaching 2,765 meters at Pico Naiguatá.

The mountain range served as a natural barrier between coastal settlements and inland territories during the Spanish colonial period, influencing the development of transportation routes.

Multiple indigenous communities have inhabited the slopes and valleys of the Cordillera de la Costa, establishing farming practices adapted to the mountainous terrain.

The range contains numerous hiking trails and observation points, with El Ávila National Park offering direct access from Caracas through a cable car system.

The mountains create distinct climate zones, supporting both xeric shrublands at lower elevations and dense tropical forests in higher regions.
