Daqin Pagoda, Buddhist pagoda in Zhouzhi County, China.
Daqin Pagoda is a seven-story octagonal brick tower located at the base of Mount Zhongnan, rising approximately 39 meters high. Internal staircases made of wood connect the different levels within the structure.
The structure was built in 650 as part of a monastery belonging to an Eastern Christian community. Over time it was repurposed and served other religious groups during the following centuries.
The structure shows signs of cultural exchange that visitors can observe directly: ancient inscriptions and religious sculptures reveal encounters between different peoples. These elements remain visible throughout the tower's interior spaces.
The structure is located roughly 20 kilometers southeast of the main area and stands impressively visible from outside. Those who enter should be prepared to climb stairs, as different levels are accessible only on foot.
The structure blends building styles from different regions: Chinese brick techniques meet architectural elements from the Near East. A notable feature is the deliberately offset central axis, which makes the design stand out.
