Clear Water Bay is a protected bay with two sandy beaches stretching along the eastern shore of the peninsula. Both beaches feature shark nets and are equipped with changing facilities, lockers, showers, and lifeguard stations.
The bay gained attention in 1995 when three shark incidents prompted authorities to install protective nets at both beaches. This action transformed it into a safer swimming destination for visitors.
The Tai Miu temple nearby honors the sea goddess and reflects the bay's importance to fishermen and sailors over the centuries. Local visitors still come to pray for safe journeys, showing how deeply this place connects to maritime traditions.
Reaching the beaches requires descending about 100 steps, so wear comfortable shoes for the walk down. Lifeguards are on duty during summer months, and both beaches have shower and changing facilities available.
The area borders Clear Water Bay Country Park and offers views of High Junk Peak rising in the distance. On clear days, visitors can spot this distinctive mountain peak standing above the water from the beaches.
