Schneizlreuth is a municipality in Berchtesgadener Land located in the Bavarian Alps near the Austrian border. The area is characterized by forests and mountainous terrain with scattered settlements spread across the landscape.
The municipality was formed in 1909 through the merger of Jettenberg and Ristfeucht, with the earliest recorded name dating back to 1285. Later land acquisitions expanded the current borders of the community.
The folk singer Bally Prell brought attention to Schneizlreuth through her composition celebrating the local beauty queen between 1922 and 1982.
The municipality is set within forested hillsides and is easily accessible during the hiking season. Infrastructure is typical for rural mountain areas with good connections to larger towns nearby.
In 1984, Schneizlreuth incorporated 2,279 hectares from Jette Forst, followed by an additional 966 hectares from Forest St. Zeno in 2011.
