Wenjin Ge, Imperial library in Chengde Mountain Resort, China
The Wenjin Ge library features traditional Chinese architecture with detailed woodwork and decorative elements within the mountain resort complex of Chengde.
Built in 1773 under Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, the library stored a complete collection of the Four Treasuries, containing essential scholarly texts.
The architectural design merges Han and Manchu elements, reflecting the cultural exchange between these two groups during the Qing Dynasty period.
Visitors can explore the library as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site tour of Chengde Mountain Resort at coordinates 40.994167N, 117.940556E.
The National Library of China presents annual Wenjin Book Awards, named after this historical library, to recognize excellence in contemporary literature.
