Media Center, comprehensive facility in Beijing that houses hotels, news centers, and TV show productions
The Media Center is a tall office and hotel building in Yangfangdian Subdistrict with a modern glass and concrete facade and many floors dedicated to television production. Inside, the space contains studios for filming, editing areas for content production, and office rooms alongside hotel accommodations for staff and visitors.
The building opened in 1990 and originally served as the main headquarters for China Central Television before some functions moved to a new location in Beijing in 2013. Since then it has served mainly as office space for other divisions of the media group while remaining part of China's media development over three decades.
The center reflects China's importance as a media hub, with its name connected to the China Media Group which manages broadcasting across the country. Walking past the building, you notice the constant flow of media professionals and camera crews, showing how active journalism and television production are in this part of the city.
The building is located about 200 meters from metro lines 1 and 9 and near the extension of West Chang'an Street, making it easy to reach other parts of the city. The hotel within offers free WiFi, air-purified rooms in different styles, and accepts major credit cards and advance payment arrangements.
The hotel features rooms with unusual themes like tea, beehives, and snails, adding a playful touch to the building's primarily business-focused purpose. Despite its main function as an office and production hub, the complex also operates multiple restaurants serving Thai, French steakhouse, Japanese, Korean barbecue, and Cantonese seafood dishes.
