Daykundi Province

The province of Deykandi spans 18,088 square kilometers of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 2,200 meters in central Afghanistan.

The province emerged in 2004 when authorities separated this territory from the northern section of Uruzgan Province, establishing Nili as its capital.

The Hazara population forms the primary ethnic group in Deykandi, speaking Dari and Hazaragi dialects throughout the ten administrative districts.

Agricultural production centers on almond cultivation, which represents 11 percent of Afghanistan's total almond output across the provincial farmlands.

The annual Almond Festival brings together thousands of farmers and traders to celebrate the harvest and conduct agricultural trade in Deykandi.
