Pimentel

Pimentel is a coastal district in Chiclayo province along the Pacific Ocean, featuring working fishing piers and waterfront dining establishments spread across the shoreline. The area's layout follows the beach, with the sea forming its natural boundary and daily maritime activity shaping how the district functions.

The district was formally established on October 18, 1920, developing from a small fishing settlement into an organized community. This growth from simple fishing origins shaped how the district continues to operate and identify itself today.

Local fishermen continue to craft and use small reed boats called caballitos de totora in their daily work. These handmade vessels remain a visible part of the waterfront culture that defines the community.

The district is located right at sea level, making it easy to access from nearby areas. Visit during daylight hours when fishing activity is visible along the piers and local restaurants are preparing fresh meals.

The oceanfront promenade displays historic mansions that reflect the area's former prosperity. These buildings stand as a reminder of an earlier period when this place held greater importance as a regional center.
