Established on October 18, 1920, Pimentel evolved from a small fishing settlement into a structured district within the Chiclayo province.

Local fishermen maintain centuries-old traditions by using tule reed boats called caballitos de totora to navigate the Pacific waters.

The district sits at 4 meters above sea level, with family restaurants serving fresh ceviche during lunch hours between 11 AM and 3 PM.

The oceanfront promenade features historical mansions while local cevicherias prepare fish using lime juice that cooks only the exterior of each piece.
