Aloe Ridge Game Reserve, Game reserve in Muldersdrift, South Africa
Aloe Ridge Game Reserve is a wildlife area in Muldersdrift covering about 525 hectares and home to rhinos, buffalo, hippos, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, and several antelope species. The land is arranged to allow visitors to observe animals throughout the year without major obstacles or seasonal closures.
The reserve sits within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, positioned about 15 kilometers northeast of the ancient Sterkfontein caves, areas of major archaeological importance. This location connects modern wildlife conservation with a region of deep scientific and human significance.
A Zulu craft center within the grounds showcases local artisans creating and selling traditional handmade items, keeping regional skills and practices alive for visitors to discover. You can watch the craftspeople work and learn directly about their techniques and cultural traditions.
The reserve sits roughly 40 kilometers from downtown Johannesburg and can be reached easily via Beyers Naude Drive. Visitors should allow travel time and standard vehicles work fine for exploring and watching wildlife.
