Xlapak, Archaeological site in Oxkutzcab, Mexico
The Xlapak complex contains three main groups situated in a valley within the Puuc Hills, featuring multiple structures with limestone architecture.
Archaeological investigations at Xlapak, conducted by César A. Sáenz in 1965, revealed structures dating from the Late to Terminal Classic periods of Maya civilization.
The Palace at Xlapak exhibits nine rooms with decorated facades featuring masks of Chaac, the Maya rain deity, demonstrating regional architectural preferences.
Located 4 kilometers from Labná and Sayil archaeological sites, Xlapak remains open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an entrance fee of 75 pesos.
The walls beneath the medial molding at Xlapak maintain their original plain surface while the upper sections display intricate geometric patterns and decorative elements.
