Chunhuhub

Structure I features thirteen vaulted chambers across two levels, incorporating geometric patterns and animal sculptures throughout its decorated facades.

Austrian explorer Teoberto Maler first documented the monuments of Chunhuhub in 1902, following his decision to remain in Yucatan after Emperor Maximilian's defeat.

The walls of the palace preserve original stucco finishes and decorative elements that demonstrate the sophistication of Maya architectural techniques in the Puuc region.

The archaeological site stands 23 kilometers northeast of Bolonchén de Rejón, accessible via federal highway 261 and a subsequent turn toward Xculoc.

The main palace displays a combination of light and dark sections in its facades, with sculpted blocks featuring interspersed figures, scrolls, rectangles, and columns.
