The campus features approximately 100 dance studios, a theater with over 900 seats, an extensive library holding more than 260,000 books, and a National Dance Museum housing over 1,000 historical items from different ethnic traditions.
The academy was founded in 1954 as China's first professional dance school after the nation's establishment. It expanded to academy status in 1978 and came under government administration in 2000.
The school serves as a hub where traditional Chinese dance forms and contemporary styles coexist. Students from across the country gather to master diverse techniques, from classical ballet to ethnic folk dances, creating a living space where movement becomes a shared language.
The school is easily accessible by public transportation and located in a lively area with trees and open spaces. Visitors can explore the campus, watch performances, or attend public workshops regularly offered throughout the year.
The campus houses a National Dance Museum containing one of the most valuable collections of Chinese dance traditions. This museum displays rare and historical objects from various ethnic groups, revealing the deep connection between dance and Chinese culture.
