Dunhuang Mosque

Dunhuang Mosque is a prayer house in the Chinese city of Dunhuang with a main hall facing east and two side halls on either side. The building includes a two-story addition at the back that provides accommodation space.

The original building dated back to the Ming Dynasty but was completely rebuilt in 1917. This reconstruction marked the beginning of a new chapter in the religious life of the city.

This mosque serves as a gathering place where the local Muslim community comes together for prayer and social connection. It shows how religious life has taken root and become part of daily life in Dunhuang.

The building can accommodate about 100 visitors and has separate sections with walls dividing the north and south sides. Before visiting, be aware that access to certain religious areas may be restricted.
