Yuzhu Peak, Mountain summit in Qumarlêb County, China

Yuzhu Peak, also known as Sob Gangri, is the highest summit of the eastern Kunlun Mountains, reaching 6,178 meters. Its south slope is gentle and its north slope steeper, and modern glaciers lie on both flanks. The summit is flat and carries an iron frame once used for visual aircraft navigation.

The construction of the Qingzang Highway and Railway transformed access to this region. These infrastructure projects connected the remote area to major cities and brought increased visitors to the mountain.

Local communities call this peak Sob Gangri, a name rooted in Tibetan tradition. This naming reflects how people in the region connect to the landscape through language passed down over time.

Climbers can access the summit on established routes that are safest during summer months when weather permits. It is important to monitor weather conditions closely, as they can change rapidly at this elevation.

The flat summit holds an iron frame installed for early aircraft visual navigation, a marker climbers find at the top. The mountain is also called Sob Gangri and forms part of the Bokalyktag range. Since 2001 Qinghai's sports bureau and Yushu prefecture have held the Yuzhu Peak Mountaineering Congress, reaching 23 editions by 2025.
