The Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera, and ancient Athletic Stadium form the central elements of this expansive archaeological complex spanning 70 hectares.

From 776 BC until 393 AD, athletes from Greek city-states gathered at this location every four years to participate in the original Olympic Games.

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia exhibits bronze statues, terracotta artifacts, and sculptures that represent the athletic and religious practices of ancient Greece.

The archaeological site opens daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with guided tours available in multiple languages throughout the year.

The remains of the chryselephantine statue of Zeus, constructed by Pheidias and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, were discovered at this location.
