Peloponnese Region

The Peloponnese Region encompasses five regional units covering 15,490 square kilometers across mountainous terrain, valleys, and 539,535 residents within its boundaries.

The region underwent significant administrative reforms in 1987, followed by the Kallikratis plan of 2011 that established its current governmental structure and authorities.

Each of the five regional units maintains distinct local traditions through festivals, agricultural practices, and culinary specialties passed down through generations.

The region connects to mainland Greece through the Isthmus of Corinth, with Tripoli serving as its administrative capital and Kalamata as its largest population center.

The territory generated a GDP of 8.448 billion euros in 2021, representing 4.5 percent of Greece's total economic output through agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
