Bangalore Urban district, also known as Bengaluru, is the most populated district in the state of Karnataka, both in terms of area and population.
The city was founded by Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire in the year 1537.
Bengaluru is the center of India's high-tech industry, known for its nightlife and several art institutions like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), and National Institute of Design (NID).
It has a well-established public transportation system with buses, auto rickshaws, and taxis. The city also has two main railway stations - Bangalore City railway station and Yeswantpur Junction.
Bangalore generates about 25% of all the IT exports from India.
