Cobra's Curse, Steel roller coaster in Tampa, United States.
Cobra's Curse is a steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa in Tampa, Florida, that covers 2,100 feet (640 meters) and reaches a height of 70 feet (21 meters) and a top speed of 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour). The ride includes a vertical elevator lift, several banked turns, and sections where the cars spin freely after an initial controlled rotation sequence.
Mack Rides of Germany manufactured this spinning coaster, which opened to the public in June 2016. It marked the first major ride addition at Busch Gardens Tampa since the launch of Falcon's Fury two years earlier.
Guests enter through a themed archaeological dig site that suggests a newly discovered ancient Egyptian tomb. King Venymyss, depicted as a towering serpent figure, guards the route toward the lift section and sets the mood before boarding.
Each train consists of two cars holding a total of eight riders, seated two across in two rows. The ride can accommodate around one thousand guests per hour, depending on dispatch speed and wait conditions.
The cars change orientation three times during the ride: first facing forward, then backward, and finally spinning freely. This sequence gives each run a different character, as the viewpoint shifts constantly throughout the circuit.
