Falcon's Fury, Drop tower at Busch Gardens Tampa, US
Falcon's Fury is a drop tower at Busch Gardens Tampa in Florida that lifts riders to 335 feet (102 meters) before sending them downward at 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour). The structure stands in the Pantopia section and ranks among the tallest freefall attractions in North America.
The attraction opened in September 2014 after construction that required reinforced steel and deep concrete foundations due to local soil conditions. These technical adjustments delayed the original opening by several months.
Its name refers to the hunting technique of a falcon diving toward prey at high speed. This movement shapes the entire experience, from the climb to the drop, when riders face the ground below.
Visitors must be at least 54 inches (137 centimeters) tall to ride, and all personal items must be stored securely before boarding. Those with heart or back problems should avoid this attraction, as the forces during the drop are intense.
Unlike most drop towers, riders tilt forward 90 degrees at the top so they face straight down toward the ground. This moment lasts several seconds before the gondola plunges downward.
