Python, Steel roller coaster in Busch Gardens Tampa, US.
Python was a steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa featuring two inversions along its track. It reached speeds of 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) and climbed to a maximum height of 72 feet (22 m).
Arrow Development built this attraction, which opened on July 1, 1976, as the first new roller coaster at the park since 1959. It operated for 30 years before closing in 2006.
Located in the Congo section of the park, the Python introduced Florida residents to their first roller coaster experience with inversions through its double-corkscrew design.
The ride accommodated passengers in a side-by-side seating configuration across multiple cycles. Visitors should expect typical wait times and wear comfortable shoes when exploring the park.
After its closure, the trains were transferred to Busch Gardens Williamsburg where they served as spare parts for another coaster. This transfer shows how amusement parks reuse equipment across their operations.
