SheiKra, Steel dive coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Florida.
SheiKra is a steel dive coaster in Florida known for its near-vertical descent and open-seat design. The blue and yellow track extends over 3,188 feet and carries trains that travel up to 70 miles per hour (113 kilometers per hour).
The ride opened in 2005 as the first dive coaster of its kind on the North American continent. Two years later, the design was converted to a floorless system that leaves riders' legs hanging in open air.
The coaster's name derives from a hawk species recognized for its vertical hunting dive, reflecting the ride's primary dropping element design.
Each train consists of three cars and holds 24 riders seated in a single row of eight across. The ride runs during regular park hours and takes about three minutes from start to finish.
Riders pause for several seconds at the edge of the 90-degree drop before plunging downward. Afterward, the track performs an Immelmann loop followed by a water splash element.
