Huacrupe-La Calera Forest Regional Conservation Area

The Huacrupe-La Calera Forest spans 7,272 hectares of protected land, featuring diverse ecosystems with dry forests and mountain ranges in northern Peru.

The Regional Government of Lambayeque established this conservation area on June 22, 2011, through Supreme Decree No. 012-2011-MINAM to protect local biodiversity.

Local communities near the forest maintain traditional practices of sustainable resource management while participating in conservation decision-making processes.

Visitors can access marked trails throughout the reserve, which connects four main peaks: Cerros Huacrupe at 669 meters, La Calera, Vega del Padre, and San Cristóbal.

The forest contains multiple elevation zones that create distinct microclimates, supporting specialized plant adaptations and seasonal bird migrations throughout the year.
