Tamborine Mountain Road extends 24.1 kilometers through the Scenic Rim region, connecting the Albert River Valley to Tamborine Village via winding forest paths.
The Main Roads Board initiated construction in 1921, making it one of Queensland's first seven main roads and converting it to bitumen surface in 1925.
The upper section received the name Geissmann Drive in 1982, commemorating a family who established the Capo di Monte boarding house in 1898.
The road includes engineered features such as large S-bends and stone retaining walls that manage steep gradients and protect against rainfall erosion.
Original infrastructure components, including culverts, cuttings, and rock embankments from the 1920s construction, remain visible along the route today.
