St John's Church, Mundoolun, Anglican church in Mundoolun, Australia
St John's Church is an Early English Gothic Revival building made of local sandstone with lancet windows and a square castellated bell tower sitting on a hillside. The structure continues to function as a venue for worship and community gatherings within the Jimboomba Parish.
The Collins family, who settled in the area during the 1840s, commissioned the building in 1900. This construction reflected the family's growing influence and the region's religious needs at that time.
The cemetery here holds graves of the Collins family and Bullum, the last member of the Wangerriburra people who remained connected to the local settlers.
The building sits on elevated ground and is visible from the surrounding roads, making it easy to locate. Visitors should know that the site remains an active parish church with limited visiting times outside of services.
The interior features red cedar joinery with a barrel-vaulted ceiling held up by arched ribs. A baptistry is tucked inside the western bell tower, an unusual placement that visitors often miss.
