Iglesia de San Cristóbal, Huánuco

Iglesia de San Cristóbal is a colonial church in Huánuco featuring baroque religious art and sculpture. Inside are wooden figures of Saint Augustine, Our Lady of Sorrows, and the Christ of Malta displayed throughout the space.

Construction started in 1560, making this one of the first churches built in the Huánuco region. It became a center for religious life during the early colonial period in this area.

The carved altarpieces covered in gold leaf show the skill of artisans who worked here during colonial times. Visitors can see these handmade details throughout the interior today.

The church holds a silver and iron chalice that once belonged to Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo. This object connects the site directly to Peru's religious past.
