Disney's Pop Century Resort, hotel at Walt Disney World
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a hotel in Bay Lake, Florida, featuring buildings themed to decades from the 1950s to the 1990s. The property includes three themed pools, a food court with multiple stations, and rooms decorated with bright colors and pop culture artwork.
The resort opened in December 2003 as part of Disney's plan to provide more affordable lodging near the parks. The original design included two sections representing the first and second halves of the 20th century, but the second was never completed due to reduced visitor numbers after 2001.
The resort celebrates American pop culture from different decades through its buildings and large decorative figures. Visitors see giant items and signs scattered throughout that trigger memories of their favorite time periods while walking around.
The property is connected to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios via the Disney Skyliner gondola system, offering quick access to those parks. Buses also run to all parks regularly, though wait times can be longer during morning hours and peak times.
Each of the three pools has its own distinct design, including the Hippy Dippy Pool shaped like a flower and another resembling a bowling alley with a water slide. These themed pool designs turn swimming into part of the overall experience rather than just a functional activity.
