Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park

Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park is a research and industrial complex in Pudong containing multiple specialized zones across a large area. Hundreds of research facilities and technology companies are distributed here across sectors such as semiconductors, software, and biotechnology.

Shanghai's municipal government launched a strategic initiative in 1999 to develop this zone, focusing on semiconductors, software, and biomedical industries. It was systematically built up afterward to become a center for technological research and innovation.

ShanghaiTech University operates a campus here since 2013, working alongside research branches from Fudan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. You can observe how academic teaching and industrial research work side by side in this environment.

The area is reached by metro Line 2 at Zhangjiang station, and there is also a local tram system for getting around. Since the grounds are very large, plan enough time for exploring or decide on a specific destination before visiting.

The park serves as a global center for pharmaceutical development, housing research facilities from GSK, Roche, Eli Lilly, and Pfizer. This international presence shows why Shanghai plays a major role in worldwide drug research.
