Hall of Ancestral Worship, Ancient imperial temple in Forbidden City, Beijing, China
The Hall of Ancestral Worship stands on a white marble platform with a double-eaved roof and features nine bays across its main structure.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, emperors performed ceremonies to honor their ancestors in this hall, which underwent reconstruction in 1657.
The building stored spirit tablets of deceased emperors and empresses, reflecting the deep connection between imperial rule and ancestral veneration.
Visitors can now explore the Clock and Watch Gallery within the hall, which displays over 200 timepieces from the 18th century.
The hall remains one of only four buildings in Beijing constructed on a three-tiered platform, marking its elevated status in imperial architecture.
