Chiayi County, Administrative region in southwestern Taiwan.
Chiayi County encompasses mountains, plains, and coastlines, spreading across 1,901 square kilometers between Mount Yu and the Taiwan Strait.
Initially named Tirosen by the Hoanya people, the region received its current name Chiayi from the Qianlong Emperor in 1788 after demonstrating loyalty.
The county maintains strong agricultural traditions through rice cultivation, tea production, and fruit farming across its eighteen distinct townships.
The Alishan Forest Railway connects visitors to mountain areas while regular bus services link the county's two cities and sixteen townships.
