Transylvania County

Transylvania County is an administrative division in western North Carolina covering approximately 380 square miles (980 square kilometers). The landscape features forests, rivers, and mountain terrain throughout the region.

The county was created in 1861 by the North Carolina General Assembly from portions of Jackson and Henderson counties. It was named after the Transylvania Company, an early colonial land venture.

The Brevard Music Center hosts summer concerts and education programs that draw musicians from across the country. These events shape the cultural rhythm of the area and bring people together throughout the warmer months.

The county administration is based at the Administration Building in Brevard, where regular public meetings take place. Visitors and residents can attend these gatherings to learn about local governance and community matters.
