Futian District

Futian is the administrative center of Shenzhen and features modern high-rises, government buildings, and shopping districts spread across a large area. The streets are wide and organized, with parks and pedestrian zones creating breathing room between the tall structures.

The area became part of a Special Economic Zone in 1980 and underwent rapid transformation. Within years, it grew from rural farmland into a modern business center.

The Shenzhen Museum shows how the area evolved from a small village into a modern city through photographs and documents. Visitors see everyday objects and stories that explain the rapid changes that shaped the region.

The area is easy to navigate by metro, with multiple lines connecting it to other neighborhoods and nearby cities. The high-speed train station also links the district to Guangzhou and other distant destinations.

Within the dense urban area lies a nature reserve with mangrove forests where migratory birds stop to rest. This wetland offers a surprising glimpse of wildlife alongside modern development.
