Pyramid of Djedkare-Isesi

The limestone pyramid measures 78.75 meters at its base and originally reached a height of 52.5 meters, featuring smooth sides instead of traditional steps.

Construction of the pyramid complex took place during the Fifth Dynasty between 2414 and 2375 BCE as the burial place for Pharaoh Djedkare Isesi.

The pyramid chamber walls contain religious inscriptions known as pyramid texts, representing some of the earliest sacred writings from ancient Egyptian civilization.

The interior structure includes a main burial chamber, antechamber, and subterranean passages, with the entrance located on the north face of the pyramid.

The complex includes the largest queen pyramid of the Old Kingdom period, built for Queen Setibhor with its own mortuary temple and offering hall.
