Disneyland Resort, Resort in Anaheim, United States
Disneyland Resort is a resort complex in Anaheim, California, that includes two theme parks, three hotels, and a shopping and dining area called Downtown Disney. The site covers about 500 acres (200 hectares) and features the original Disneyland Park, which opened in 1955, and Disney California Adventure Park, which opened in 2001.
Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park in 1955, and the resort grew over time with the addition of hotels and a second park. In 2001, Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney opened, transforming the area into a multi-day destination.
Downtown Disney is a lively area where visitors can shop, eat, and listen to live music without needing a park ticket. The area often has street performers and special events, making it a popular spot for both tourists and locals.
Visitors can walk between the two parks and Downtown Disney, and the monorail connects the Disneyland Hotel to the park. It's a good idea to wear comfortable shoes and plan for a full day, as the resort is large and spread out.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds, which opened in 1959, was the first tubular steel roller coaster in the world. Also, the parking structure called Mickey and Friends is one of the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
