Thonotosassa

Thonotosassa is a community in Hillsborough County, Florida, centered around Lake Thonotosassa and several parks with extensive trail networks. The landscape offers open spaces and natural areas for outdoor recreation.

The area received its first settlers after 1842 following the end of the Second Seminole War and the construction of Fort King Road. This transportation route enabled the region's development and connection with other early settlements.

The name comes from Seminole-Creek words referring to the area's natural flint deposits. This naming heritage reflects the region's indigenous roots and early settlement patterns.

The community connects to Tampa via Interstate 4 and Interstate 75, offering straightforward access to major cities in central Florida. Visitors can easily find parking at the parks and access the trail networks without difficulty.
