Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Victorian hotel in Bay Lake, United States.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a large Victorian-style hotel on the shore of Seven Seas Lagoon in Bay Lake, Florida. The property spreads across several interconnected buildings with curved porches, turrets, and wrought-iron details around a central garden.
This hotel opened in 1988 as a flagship resort for the newly expanded Walt Disney World, replacing an earlier temporary lodging concept. Architects referenced the Grand Floridian Hotel in San Diego and other turn-of-the-century Gulf Coast resorts.
The main building houses a two-story lobby with a freestanding Victorian birdcage, surrounded by floral carpeting and plasterwork. Guests can take afternoon tea under white gazebos in the courtyard while musicians perform.
The monorail station sits on the second floor of the main building and provides direct access without stairs through a covered walkway. Guests can also use the boat dock at the marina, which runs regularly between the resort and the park.
A wedding pavilion on its own island off the resort offers ceremonies with views of Cinderella Castle in the background. The pavilion is accessible via a narrow pedestrian bridge and seats up to 250 people.
