Esslingen

Esslingen is a rural administrative district in the Stuttgart Region with diverse terrain ranging from flat plains to wooded hills and uplands. The area comprises numerous municipalities spread across varied landscapes with different soil types and vegetation patterns.

Esslingen am Neckar was once a free imperial city that joined the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1803, laying the groundwork for the current administrative district. Administrative reforms in the 20th century reshaped the district's boundaries and organization.
