Northern Mazghuna pyramid, Ancient Egyptian pyramid in Mazghuna, Egypt.

The Northern Mazghuna pyramid is a smooth-sided funerary structure with an underground network of corridors and passages. These passages connect through a U-shaped layout to a large burial chamber carved from quartzite stone.

The pyramid was built during the 12th Dynasty of ancient Egypt, a period of significant architectural development. Its design reflects the construction methods and engineering practices of that era.

The pyramid is attributed to Sobekneferu, one of the few female pharaohs of ancient Egypt who ruled during the 12th Dynasty. Visitors today can observe how this monument reflects the reign of one of Egypt's rare female rulers.

The entrance is located on the north side of the monument, where visitors descend via a staircase into the interior. The passageways are narrow and low in places, so careful footing and some caution are needed.

Inside the monument lies a 42-ton block of quartzite that was intended to seal the burial chamber but was never moved to its final position. This massive stone offers a remarkable glimpse into details of the original construction that remain incomplete.
