José Leonardo Ortíz District

José Leonardo Ortíz District extends over 28.22 square kilometers of flat terrain at an elevation of 40 meters above sea level in northern Peru.

The district, established on November 28, 1961, originated from the development of Barrio de las Latas and the expropriation of Quinta Barsallo in 1943.

The district celebrates major religious events throughout the year, including festivities dedicated to Santa Rosa de Lima and El Señor de los Milagros.

The Moshoqueque Commercial Complex serves as the primary marketplace for agricultural products, livestock, repair services, and manufacturing activities in the district.

With 156,498 residents in a compact area, the district maintains one of the highest population densities in the Lambayeque Region at 5,545 people per square kilometer.
