AVPX, Indoor laser skirmish attraction at Dreamworld, Australia
AVPX was an indoor laser combat attraction at Dreamworld featuring three distinct themed zones spread across a large game area. Players moved through different environments including a multi-level temple structure, a maze-like alien-themed section, and a separate combat chamber as they competed.
The attraction opened in 2009 after repurposing the former Vortex ride building at the park. It remained operational until closing in 2013 as the park evolved its entertainment offerings.
Players entered through Weyland Industries Briefing Rooms and received military-style instructions before engaging in team-based laser combat missions.
The attraction accommodated groups of around 30 players at a time and was included with regular Dreamworld entry tickets. Visitors were advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear since gameplay involved moving through different areas and navigating obstacles.
Players took on different roles during matches, including scenarios where some competitors played as infected while others remained human, adding a survival element to the team-based matches. The colored light signals scattered throughout the play areas served as both scoring mechanisms and navigation aids in the darker themed zones.
