Guadalupe is a municipality in Santander Department located at around 1,430 meters elevation in northeastern Colombia. The area features varied terrain with rolling hills, forested sections, and scattered communities spread across the landscape.
The municipality was founded in 1715 by Captain José Camacho Sabidos and his family during the Spanish colonial period. It emerged as part of Spanish settlement expansion into this mountainous region.
Residents celebrate local traditions through annual festivities including Virgen el Carmen on July 16 and Virgen de Guadalupe on December 12.
