Land O' Lakes, Census-designated place in Pasco County, Florida
Land O' Lakes is a residential community in Pasco County, Florida, that covers roughly 19 square miles and features numerous natural lakes scattered throughout. The area comprises residential neighborhoods interspersed with water bodies and open spaces.
The region was originally home to Native Americans until the mid-1800s, when stagecoach lines established in the 1840s began to connect the area and encourage settlement. These transportation routes gradually brought growth to what was once isolated territory.
The honorary mayor position, established in 1968, reflects how the community values shared identity and represents local traditions at public gatherings.
The area is connected by U.S. Route 41, State Road 54, and the Suncoast Parkway, which link it to the wider Tampa Bay region. These major roads make it straightforward to arrive from nearby cities.
The area received its current name during a community meeting in 1949, replacing the earlier Ehren post office designation that had previously identified the region. This name change marked a turning point for the developing community.
