Budapest District III, Administrative district in northern Budapest, Hungary.

District III is a large administrative area north of central Budapest situated along both sides of the Danube River. It incorporates several distinct neighborhoods with residential areas, historical sites, and parks spread across the territory.

The area was formed in 1873 during Budapest's unification, bringing together the ancient Roman settlement of Aquincum with later urban neighborhoods. This layering of ancient and modern development continues to shape the district's character.

The district maintains deep ties to river life through its rowing clubs and boat houses along the banks. Water-based traditions shape how residents and visitors experience the neighborhoods and spend their leisure time.

The district is accessible by public transportation including suburban rail, buses, and the metro system. Visitors should plan ahead based on which neighborhoods they want to explore since the area spans multiple districts.

The Roman riverside walk features a path with historic water mills and traditional boat landings from the 1800s. Many visitors overlook this quieter section while focusing on busier tourist areas.
