Looney Tunes River Ride, Family water ride at Warner Bros Movie World, Gold Coast, Australia
Looney Tunes River Ride was a boat attraction at Warner Bros Movie World where guests traveled through animatronic scenes featuring cartoon characters in various settings. The ride combined water elements with themed environments that brought familiar characters to life along the journey.
The attraction opened with Warner Bros Movie World on June 3, 1991, operating for two decades as a signature ride. It closed in February 2011 after its popularity declined over the years.
Each boat carried 16 passengers through a storyline where characters searched for Bugs Bunny, who had dug a hole to Australia.
The ride lasted about five minutes and ended with a water drop finale as Porky Pig delivered his farewell. Guests should be prepared to get wet, especially during the final drop section of the journey.
After the ride closed, its boats and animatronic figures were auctioned off in December 2012, with some equipment repurposed for other attractions. Parts of the ride found new lives in different areas of the entertainment complex.
