Nickelodeon Studios, Television studio in Universal Studios Florida, Orlando, US
Nickelodeon Studios was a production facility inside the Universal Studios Florida theme park in Orlando, serving as a working headquarters for an American children's television network. The complex included studio floors, editing suites and visitor zones connected by glass windows and walkways, allowing guests to watch operations during their tour of the park.
The facility began operations in June 1990, forming the first permanent production site outside New York for this network. Its closure came in April 2005, when the network shifted television production to other locations.
The space provided performance areas and audience seating, allowing real studio guests to become part of recordings as they watched television performances. This arrangement put children at the center of the programs created there, helping to build the casual interaction this network was known for.
The tour led through recording areas and control rooms, with visitors watching operations behind glass without disrupting the work. The best time to visit was in the morning, when most productions were active and you could see real television being made.
A geyser in front of the building shot green slime about every ten minutes, a landmark that drew visitors into the park. The space later replaced by other attractions, and the original studio structures were rebuilt with a different theme.
