Pangasinan is a province in northern Luzon, Philippines, with coastlines along Lingayen Gulf and farming land reaching toward central areas. It comprises 44 municipalities and four cities.
Colonial administration began in 1580 when the area became a separate province under Spanish rule. Augustinian friars arrived in the 17th century and brought Christian missions to the region.

Buses connect the provincial capital Dagupan with Manila in about four hours. Small boats and public transport bring travelers to the islands and coastal towns.
One hundred islands lie off the coast near Alaminos and form a system of limestone formations. Some can be reached on foot during low tide.
