Wicked Twister, Steel roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio
Wicked Twister was a steel roller coaster featuring two yellow-painted towers approximately 215 feet tall with 450-degree vertical twists at each end. The ride spanned about 200 meters and used electromagnetic launches to propel eight-car trains carrying 32 riders through its twisted track.
The ride debuted in 2002 as an Intamin-built launch coaster at the Ohio amusement park. It operated for two decades before closing in 2021.
The ride incorporated 'The Winner' by The Crystal Method as its theme song, adding to the technical experience of the linear induction motor launches.
Visitors should expect longer wait times, especially on warm weekends, as this was a popular ride in the park. The experience was brief and intense, with each ride lasting only a few minutes.
The coaster was a shuttle-launch design that accelerated passengers forward and backward between the two towers in succession. This back-and-forth concept made the experience feel like multiple rides in one.
